OHHHHH.. Buck Naked by Evangeline Anderson

Sportochick's MusingsVery well written including lots of drama and unforgettable scenes. I give this book 4 STARS for being unpredictable.

Buck Naked

Genres ~ Paranormal Romance, Paranormal Shifter

Sadie Becker is not herself. A 40-year-old, divorced mother of two, Sadie wakes up one morning and realizes that she looks and feels like she did in her twenties. Suddenly she’s unable to walk around in her new town of Cougarville without men falling at her feet. Confused and alone, Sadie isn’t sure who to turn to…except answers to her problems might reside with her broodingly handsome reclusive neighbor, Mathis.

An alpha shifter, Mathis lost the love of his life, and he knows he’ll never find another mate. But his innocent new neighbor clearly doesn’t know the danger she’s in, and he's the only one who can save her.

But when the attraction pulls too strong, will Mathis’ animal nature be unleashed and claim Sadie for his own? Buck Naked is a sexy, emotional thrill-ride that will hook readers on this fantastic new series.

Priceless.....I want to go through the same thing as Sadie well only as far as the youthfulness. The author does a stellar job in Sadie's character as she walks the reader through Sadie getting younger looking and the very very strange things happening wherever she goes. Sadie's confusion over her changes and her upset with the men it understandable. I like that her confusion doesn't come across as her being simple minded.

Buck Naked has a well written plot including lots of drama and unforgettable scenes. It includes the gruff Mathis and the reader will come to love him as they read through the book to see how he became the recluse he is in this story. I love a gentle Alpha who can jump up to the plate when needed and Mathis is this sort of man. His character is like a prickly pear. Thorns on the outside and pure sweetness inside. His internal tug of war over Sadie and his needs and desires is portrayed in a believable manner.

For secondary characters.....

The cold but gorgeous villain, Keller, is delicious.... and I am sure the female readers will be hot for him. In fact, I am looking forward to his story because I really feel all villains deserve a happy ending. Well not all but this one does.

While Dr. Samantha, Sadie's twin, plays a prominent role in this book and her no-nonsense attitude will make a great second book to this series because she has so much attitude along with her smarts and beauty.

I give this book 4 STARS for being unpredictable.

Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place by Terry Spear

Sportochick's MusingsEveryone likes a quick fast fun read.... well this is that book.

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place

Heart of the Wolf #21

by Terry Spear

Find The Book At ~ Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Publisher ~ Sourcebooks Casablanca
Genres ~ Paranormal Romance, Shifters

Wooing a she-wolf isn't as easy as it looks in this bold paranormal romance from USA Today bestseller Terry Spear

In Silver Town, the secrets run deep...

Alpha werewolf Brett Silver has an ulterior motive when he donates a prized family heirloom to the Silver Town hotel. Ellie MacTire owns the place with her sisters, and he's out to get her attention.

Ellie is even more special than Brett knows. She's a wolf-shifter with a unique ability to commune with the dead. Ellie has been ostracized, so she protects herself and those she loves by revealing nothing-not even when strange and dangerous things begin to happen in Silver Town. And especially not to the devastatingly handsome and generous wolf who's determined to win her over...

Everyone likes a quick fast fun read.... well this is that book. This lighthearted read is perfect for those times that you really don't want to think about complicated plots. It has a beautiful love story and a large cast of characters to keep every reader involved in the plot. There are some funny scenes to this book that made me chuckle and just thinking about what was going on still makes me smile.

Ellie's secret takes on quite an amusing turn and it adds some spice to this story along with Brett's idiotic statement to Ellie. But I can't tell you what that is I don't want to spoil the book for you.

At certain points in the book I wanted a little more zing to the plot but this didn't take away from the enjoyment of the read. For this reason, I give it a 3.5 STARS.

REVIEW My One True Highlander by Suzanne Enoch

Sportochick's Musings ~ What can I say; this is an amusing full of heat captivating read much like book one to this series. Author Suzanne Enoch really knows how to write a book that knocks ones socks off.

My One True Highlander

No Ordinary Hero #2

by Suzanne Enoch

Find The Book At ~ Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Publisher ~ St. Martin's Press Romance
Genres ~ Historical Romance

Rugged highlander Graeme has one thing on his mind—take a stand against the horrible Englishman Lattimer and he will be rewarded with enough money to be set for life. But when his reckless younger brothers take it one step too far and kidnaps a young woman on her way to see Lattimer, Graeme has to intervene. He cannot send the lady back without his kin getting in trouble. And when a damsel this beautiful is dropped into your lap, it’s hard to let her go...

Marjorie should be terrified she’s been captured by highland scoundrels, but it’s hard to live in terror when your captor is a devilishly handsome and sinfully tempting as Graeme is. She cannot stay by his side forever—no matter how her heart may pound at the thought—but Graeme seems to have other plans. This wicked highlander is out to seduce her and doesn’t plan to stop until she’s in his arms...forever...

What can I say; this is an amusing full of heat captivating read much like book one to this series. Author Suzanne Enoch really knows how to write a book that knocks ones socks off.

In this second book to the No Ordinary Hero series I feel in love with both the hero, Graeme and the heroine, Marjorie as well as Connell, Graeme's youngest brother.

Graeme is just a messy character but of course this is to be understood since he is a laird and raising his three wild brothers. The reader will thoroughly enjoy his interactions with his brothers and their shenanigans.

Marjorie warms my heart with her trying so hard to be accepted in proper society and it is heart wrenching to read through the pages of what happens to her and her reactions. Despite everything she is not a woman to give up thus she gives Graeme a mighty battle. I love when a man falls like a tree for a feisty woman. The reader will enjoy reading the interaction between these two.

The brothers who would be considered secondary characters are in my opinion right up there with Graeme and Marjorie for interest and had me laughing many times as well as feeling pain for what they were going through since their parents' death.

Because this deals with real life situations and finding love one deserves I give it 5 STARS

Suzanne was born in Southern California sometime in the latter half of the 20th century. In the way that some people are born knowing they want to be astronauts or cellists, Suzanne always knew she wanted to be a writer. Early dreams of becoming a zoologist and writing true stories about her adventures in Africa were crushed, however, after she viewed a television special about the world’s most poisonous snakes; she did NOT want to write about how she’d been bitten and lost a limb to a cobra. Thankfully at the same time the movie “Star Wars” premiered, and she realized that she could make up adventures and write about them, and not be eaten by deadly predators while doing research.

She dabbled in romantic fantasy writing for a year or two after graduating with a degree in English from the University of California, Irvine, until her affection for traditional Regency romances led her to write one for fun. After several encouraging rejections from publishers, she snared the interest of the world’s best and most patient literary agent, who advised her to revise the manuscript. This ultimately led to the publication of her first book, The Black Duke’s Prize, from Avon Books in the Spring of 1995. A second Regency, Angel’s Devil, followed that Fall.

When Avon folded its traditional Regency line, Suzanne was encouraged to try her hand at historical romance. As she remained keenly interested in England’s Regency period, she decided to attempt another manuscript set in that time. Lady Rogue hit the shelves in March of 1997. She wrote a total of 29 books for Avon, including two anthologies and a five-part contemporary series which received a pair of starred reviews from Publishers Weekly. One of those books, Twice the Temptation, was named one of the five best romances of the year by PW in 2007.

In 2002 her well-known love of all things “Star Wars” led to an invitation to appear on the E! channel in the television special “Star Wars: The Force Is Back”, where she discussed the romance in the movie series and ended up with more air time than George Lucas.

In 2010 Suzanne left Avon Books for St. Martin’s Press, where she continues to pen historical romance novels. Her 31st book, Taming an Impossible Rogue, is set to arrive in March 2012.

Suzanne is known for her humorous characters, sexy bad boys, and whip-sharp, witty dialogue. She currently resides in Placentia, California with several hundred guppies and various other tropical fish, and handful of very loud, spinach-loving finches. And her collection of action figures and statues from “Star Wars”, “Lord of the Rings”, “X-Men”, and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Everybody needs some inspiration, after all.

REVIEW of the delightful ~ I Dared the Duke by Anna Bennett

Sportochick's Musings ~ In the second book to The Wayward Wallflowers series I fell into deep admiration with Beth's character.

I Dared the Duke

A Wayward Wallflowers Novel

by Anna Bennett

Find The Book At ~ Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Publisher ~ St. Martin's Press Romance
Genres ~ Historical Romance

Alexander Savage, the Duke of Blackshire, is known throughout the ton for three things: the burn scars on his neck, his ornery disposition, and the trail of broken hearts behind him. None of which would concern Miss Elizabeth Lacey in the least—if she weren’t living under his roof. As his grandmother’s companion, Beth is all too concerned with the moody and compelling duke. Incensed by his plans to banish the sweet dowager duchess to the country, Beth refuses to do his bidding. If Alex wants her help, he’s going to have to take her dare…and grant her three wishes.

Alex adores his grandmother, which is precisely why she must leave. A string of unfortunate incidents has him worried for the safety of everyone around him—including the dowager’s loyal and lovely companion, Beth. But the notorious wallflower isn’t as meek as she appears, and as their battle of wills heats up, so does Alex’s desire. He’s dangerously close to falling in love with her…and revealing secrets he’d rather keep hidden. How can he convince her that his darkest days are behind him—and that, for the first time in forever, his heart is true?

In the second book to The Wayward Wallflowers series I fell into deep admiration with Beth's character. I am not sure this statement is grammatically correct but it is what I mean. Beth needs to be needed, as do most people though they are unaware of this need. The fact that she is conscious of this and finds ways to satisfy this part of herself is spread throughout this book in an appealing manner. I like that the author does give her a backbone to not be walked on and to be able to think of her best interests. It is refreshing to read a female lead character that thinks of others wellbeing.

Alex's hidden secrets are surprising and painful. It is clear throughout the book that he didn't understand how one moment in time could affect others for the rest of their lives and possibly ruin his future. In his character one sees how one's thoughts create a life that is not satisfying and can in fact be very destructive.

Secondary characters in his grandmother and his close friend Darby the Marquess of Daberville add very interesting scenes to this romantic amusing and fun read. I really enjoyed this read and love how it addressed bullying in a discrete manner.

I look forward to the next book in this series and give this book 4 STARS for addressing how destructive words can be to one's future.

Anna Bennett started swiping romances from her mom’s bookshelf as a teenager and decided that books with balls, dukes, and gowns were the best. So, when she had the chance to spend a semester in London she packed her bags—and promptly fell in love with the city, its history, and its pubs. She dreamed of writing romance, but somehow ended up a software analyst instead.

Fortunately, a few years and a few careers later, Anna found her way back to writing the stories she loves and won the Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart®. She lives in Maryland with her husband and three children, who try valiantly not to roll their eyes whenever she quotes Jane Austen. Other weaknesses include reality TV, cute shoes, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

My Sugar Daddy by Trinity Blacio

Sportochick's Musings ~ I give this 3.5 STARS for surprising me with the direction on the plot.

My Sugar Daddy

Book One in the Sugar Daddies Series

by Trinity Blacio

Find The Book At ~ Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Publisher ~ Riverdale Avenue Books
Genres ~ Erotica, Menage, BDSM

Struggling single mother Laura McGill figures she has nothing to lose and everything to gain when she impulsively signs up online to meet a sugar daddy. After losing her virginity to a two-timing married man, she's out to find security for herself and her infant son Max--and hopefully a man she can love.

Brothers Daniel and Grant Wilmot are handsome and rich-and seeking a Rubenesque beauty whose lush curves will cushion their hard loving. Leaders of a security team comprising former Special Forces operatives and a dating website that serves as a cover for their military activities, Daniel and Grant--and another brother, Roman--are smitten by Laura's generous proportions and sweet manner.

But before the relationship can get too far, a classified government project goes awry--and the Wilmot brothers are forced to pick up the pieces. But will Laura reject them when she learns the truth about the secret they carry?

An unexpected read is the thought that comes to mind as I write this review. I was drawn to the blurb then cover and was looking for an erotica read when I decide to select this book. I wasn't sure how I would like this book the opening chapter wasn't filled with enough drama for me.... but lo and behold this book picked up the paced and soon I was cheering for both Daniel and Grant to have a happy ending with Laura.

What was exciting was the addition of Roman their other brother into the storyline. With his presence, the plot thickens and this book takes a turn to the exciting. I love how the story expands and adds elements.

Secondary characters are not as developed as the primary but they are presented in a manner that makes the reader curious to know more about them. Thus, I look forward to reading the next books to this series.

I give this 3.5 STARS for surprising me with the direction on the plot.
