First Comes Love #2

A powerful handsome rogue finally meets his match in Gone With the Rogue, the second book in the First Comes Love series from bestseller Amelia Grey.

She had an acceptable marriage of convenience. Now widowed, can this determined and beautiful mother find true and forever love?

The sinking of the Salty Dove took her husband’s life―but it didn’t drown Julia Fairbright’s courage to endure. She creates a proper life for herself and her young son. But now, the ton’s most notorious rogue is back in London, and how he makes Julia feel is anything but proper. She can’t deny the desires he awakens in her, even though she knows that the handsome devil will surely break her heart.

Garrett Stockton owns a successful shipping company and is rumored to have a woman on every continent and half-a-dozen in England. The truth, however, is that Garrett has but one mistress: the wide open sea. That is, until he meets Julia, whose spirit of independence matches his own. What begins as a flirtatious battle of wits turns far more passionate than either of them could have imagined. Suddenly, Garrett’s only desire is to sail into the sunset with Julia as his wife and young Chatwyn his son. But she won’t take his hand―how can he convince her that his love is real and his heart is hers?

The author Amelia Grey created two very intriguing main characters to lead us on a merry chase in Gone With the Rogue book #2 of the First Comes Love series. Julia is looking for her freedom from a domineering controlling father-in-law, the Duke of Sprogsfield who threatens to take away her son if she ever marries. She is always getting in trouble and trying to not get exposed. Clearly, she is a lively woman who just lacks the desire to tow the line to the Duke. She loves her son and does everything possible to keep him with her and safe.

Garrett Stockton has more character in one finger then most men and the author does an outstanding job of portraying who he is integrity wise and socially. It is rather amusing how he reacts to Julia and his desire to assist her in her quest and keep her safe. Garrett is a very intelligent man and it doesn't take him long to figure out what driving Julia's quest.

The reader will find this a fun read that makes them laugh occasionally throughout the book. On the flip side it will also cause an occasionally chest pain for the hurt both these people have but don't share.

I give this 4 STARS for be a fun read.

The Earl Next Door

First Comes Love #1

Genres ~ Historical Romance

What does a Wickedly Wonderful Widow really want? One noble suitor is about to find out. . .

Adeline, Dowager Countess of Wake, is all on her own after her husband’s sudden death. The good news? Losing him allowed her to find herself. Finally, Adeline is free to do, go, and be as she pleases. She cherishes her newfound independence and is not looking for another man to wed. But seeking out a new lover? Well, that is a whole ’nother story. . .

Lord Lyon, son of the two-timing Earl of Marksworth, wishes to have a respectable, loving wife someday. When he meets the beautiful and self-reliant Adeline, Lyon is instantly smitten. But Adeline would rather have the handsome suitor in her bed than to take his hand in marriage. It’s a scandalous proposal—and one that’s hard for Lyon to refuse. Unless the fire of his passion can melt Adeline’s resolve. . .and he can find a way to be the Wickedly Wonderful Widow’s lover for all time?

Finally, Adeline gets the life she should have had when her husband was alive but for her disastrous marriage and his love for another. In spite of everything that her deceased husband did to her while he was alive, she still has a compassionate heart to help others. So, when she goes to the docks to go through his belongings to verify he was on the ship she meets two other widows, Lady Kitson Fairbright and Mrs. Brina Feld. The three of them start a school to teach the young daughters of sailors who lost their lives on the ship.

What follows is an often times amusing story of the Lord Lyon trying to figure out what to do with the beautiful unconventional Adeline and the running screaming girls next door.

This story is a feel-good story. It shows how to take tragedy and turn it into something good. Along the way Adeline learns how to open her heart to the possibility that she can have the life she always thought she was getting with her marriage. Adeline works on her fears around men and to be honest she will surprise the reader with her solution to her feelings for Lord Lyon.

All of this adds up to a delightful plot earning it 5 STARS
