Though part of a legacy of time-traveling sisters, Lilia Sinclair is planted firmly in twenty-first-century Edinburgh. Her granny’s matchmaking with thirteenth-century Highlanders isn’t about to lure her into the past, especially as ancient Scotland enters troubled times. After all, Lilia is blessed—or cursed—with dire prophetic visions. To protect herself, she’s put up an icy emotional wall no man could cross—until a pair of gorgeous, rippling arms breaks right through.

Graham MacTavish is pure trouble. Once the dragon bound to Loch Ness, he’s transformed into a philanderer of the first order. In fact, because of his dalliances with other men’s wives, a rival clan wants his head on a pike. Before he provokes an all-out war, Graham is banished to the twenty-first century, where he must win Lilia’s hand—or return to die. But after meeting a lass as fierce as any Highland warrior, Graham knows one thing: life with Lilia, in any century, is a fate to embrace.

The author hits another home run with book 4 of the Highland Heart series. I love time travel books especially historical romances including paranormal. This book exceeds all the things I love in a book. It has time travel, intrigue, a fast pace, battles, takes place in Scotland, loss, includes humor with the romance and a great love story.

It has Graham, an out of control, carousing hot male character who is making up for centuries of a life as a dragon and Angus, his oaf of a sidekick that adds lots of humor to the storyline. Graham is on the loose and doing whatever he wishes. He reminds me of a 16 year old who has just discovered what the opposite sex is for. His character matures and grows as you read further in the book and he becomes more then one dimensional. Angus I will have to admit is still pretty much the same throughout the book. Don't get me wrong. He does change some with their jump to the future. But at the end he is still lovable and an oaf.

Lilia proves to be a multifaceted woman. Portrayed as a woman who has a gift that could also be considered a curse she struggles with how to survive this gift and the distance she needs from people. She is shown as someone that has a big heart but no one who can be there with her or for her. Her character is believable and real especially with her gift of prophecy.

I give this 4 STARS for being an exciting read.

When I’m not at my full time job at the steel mill, I’m tapping away on my laptop, recording my daydreams of sexy Highlanders and the headstrong women who drive them crazy.

I also think of myself as a “watcher”. I live in the middle of a five acre wood in Kentucky, sharing the clearing where our house sits with deer, raccoons, possums, wild turkeys and even a groundhog. Did you know they’re also called whistle pigs? I discovered why when Jasper startled Hamish McGroundhog. Hamish whistled the alarm and startled everybody.

My sweet friend Jasper has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge but I know in my heart he still watches over me. He’s my four-legged guardian angel.

I also enjoy people-watching—you know, kind of floating along the edge of a crowd and observing how folks go about their day. All this watching feeds into my stories so take care, you never know when a writer might be watching

REVIEW Legal Wolf's Mate by Eve Langlais

Legal Wolf's Mate
by Eve Langlais

Find This Book At ~ Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Goodreads
Publisher ~ st. martin's press
Categories ~ paranormal romance, wolves, tigers

Part of the "Growl" anthology (Also available as a single)

In Legal Wolf's Mate, taking on a pro bono murder case isn't a problem for a lawyer who enjoys a challenge. Discovering that his new client is his mate? A tad more complicated. Gavin has no intention of settling down, especially not with a woman accused of murder, but once he sets eyes on Megan, his fate is sealed.

I had a deja vu moment when I started reading this book. Recently I had read and reviewed Catch a Tiger by the Tail in the Wild Antology by Eve Langlais, Kate Douglas and A.C. Arthur and I realized that author Eve Langlais intertwined the characters from that book with this book. Or vice versa. So it was great to feel like I knew some of these characters already.

This quick moving story involves Gavin; a handsome, rich but not getting involved other than a quicky lawyer and beautiful, mysterious, keeping a big secret, accused of murder Megan. Oh yes this is a very twisted web with everyone keeping secrets. Slowly and with great finesse the author unveils Megan's big secret and it was so far from what I was imagining that I was quite shocked in a good way.

Gavin was not a likable person when the book started because he was so full of his wonderful himself. But as the story went on he became lovable and more real. He was very singleminded towards getting his way but his mind was quick to notice Megan's needs and forced him to let go of his ego.

Megan in the beginning came across as having a boring personality. She seemed helpless and nondescript. But really of the two main characters she was by far the best one with all her hidden secrets and talents. At the end of the story the reader will so absorbed in this fascinating woman.

I give this 3.5 STARS for the surprising twist to Megan's character.

REVIEW A Very Jaguar Christmas by Terry Spear

A Very Jaguar Christmas
(Heart of the Jaguar #4.5)
by Terry Spear

There are all kinds of surprises under the mistletoe!

As a protector of all jaguar-kind, Guardian agent Demetria MacFarlane isn’t surprised to get a call near Christmas—but when she’s sent to protect a cub whose species she didn’t even know existed, her holiday season gets complicated. And it doesn’t help that her partner is a distraction of the hottest kind.

Hotshot JAG agent Everett Anderson can handle dangerous poachers and wildlife traffickers, no problem…but kids? Everett fears he’ll be stuck cub-sitting under the Christmas tree, but working with one sexy Guardian she-cat may be the best present he’s ever gotten.

I have been on a roll this month reading books by authors I have never read before. Terry Spear fits in this category. Being a lover of paranormal shifter stories I was very excited to get this book to read since I have been reading reviews on her books from various people for years.

Primary characters Demetria and Everett have a complicated relationship that is explained in the Prologue. As the story progresses the reader will see that sometimes time doesn't make things better but more confusing and sometimes spending time together is the best medicine.

The best parts of this story for me was the Prologue and the loving interaction between Everett and Corey which made me cry. That is not to say that there weren't other parts of the story I loved. The plot was well thought out, interesting and the descriptions were amazing.

There is a large group of secondary characters that actively participate in this fun story that all deserve their own book. These characters are well written and developed to entice the reader to getting more books to the Heart of the Jaguar series just to read their HEA.

My one drawback is that at times it was just a little too sweet and perfect and I would of liked a little more conflict or tension. But this is a personal thing and after reading it I do look forward to reading more of her books..

I do recommend this book for all people and give it 3.75 STARS.

Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.

She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

USA Today Bestseller residing in Central Texas from Sacramento, California who creates award-winning teddy bears too!

In Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Eve Langlais, Broderick has a job to do—audit the books of a gentleman’s club. Sounds simple, except his company wants him to find dirt linking to the mob, his secret mob employer wants someone to pin the blame on, and the bar manager at the heart of the controversy doesn’t want him—even though she’s his mate.

In Wild Passions by Kate Douglas, six women—friends closer than sisters—head off to an exclusive mountain resort for a week-long bachelorette getaway, where most of the women just wants to know if there are any good men left in the world. There are, and they’re the men of Feral Passions, a unique resort located on a private wolf preserve, owned and run by a pack of sexy werewolves who use it as their own personal hunting ground for mates.

In Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur, Malec Zenta was part of a loving lycan family until his twin brother’s suicide took a piece of his soul. Channing Verdi never knew his parents, but that was fine because at the age of sixteen on the night of the full moon, he realized his purpose. The only pleasure these two betas have managed to find in their life was in the bed with the women they shared. Now, a human woman has entered their lives...a woman who sets their primal instincts on fire, a woman they can’t help but stake their claim on...and give her the ultimate pleasure of being with two shifters at once.

Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Eve Langlais ~  A new author for me I find her writing style unusual and unique. This mobster shifter story involves lots of fun twists and turns to the plot. At first I thought Broderick was going to be too nerdy and lack personality but he really grew on me through out the story and at the end I thought he was just so adorable and very protective. Lulu was very tough, no nonsense and really didn't want a man around. She had lots of hidden facets that the reader will enjoy discovering as the story advances.

I give it 3.5 STARS and would like to read more of her books to get a better feel of her writing style.

Wild Passions by Kate Douglas ~ A cute, fun, emotional story where Meg, Dar, Elle, and Jules who have been BFF's since early childhood head off for a fun week before Meg gets married to hotter than hot Zach. Everyone loves a story with hot male shifters and equally hot women right? Well this is actually more than that.

This book deals with some emotional baggage carried by several of the characters. As a reader we can see that it is only baggage, not truth and we hope that they work things out. Several things are woven into the story, BBW women, a taller than average woman, and some who do not feel they deserve all the wonderful things they have. I loved how this story hit on all these issues in a kind and gentle way but kept the overall theme of finding a mate and Meg coming to terms with if she loved Zach enough to marry him.

Trak is the alpha and his interaction with Meg was critical to Meg's soul searching. The way the author handled Zach and Trak's meeting was priceless and brought a smile to my face. There are still several lycan males who do not have mates and I can't wait to see their stories in the future.

I give it 4 STARS for a brilliant display of multiple characters being featured with equal importance.

Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur ~ A very satisfying read. I have read it twice. Her characters are a mix of dark and light but she balances the three main characters brilliantly with her writing skills. This story deals with a dangerous unknown shifter, secrets, and people wanting or not wanting someone special in their life.

Bad boy Malec will draw the female readers in but Channing is the one that will warm their heart. Their relationship and support of each other is unique. A unique blend that works for the reader and keeps them interested to read further.

I related to Caroline with her past life and her desire to have a different one, a better one. Both Malec and Channing push against her wall she puts up, hitting her in areas of her life she doesn't want to acknowledge. But she knows how to push back as well and she does it with style.

This story gets 4 STARS for showing that your true self will bring you all the happiness your desire. So I wonder will Phelan have his story?

Kate Douglas ~ Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.

Many submissions and rejections followed.

In 1998, she published with a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.

In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. Kate has continued on as the imprint's lead author, with twenty-one novels and novellas in the full Wolf Tales series. She also has a series with Kensington's Zebra imprint, DemonSlayers, and has just completed her latest Aphrodisia series, Dream Catchers, which opened with the NightShift anthology and her novella, Dream Catcher, followed by the novels Dream Bound and Dream Unchained.

Her next series, Spirit Wild, debuts April 30, 2013 with Dark Wolf. This is a spin-off series that takes place in the Chanku world readers first met in Wolf Tales. Characters are the grown children of the first Chanku.

Kate and her husband of over forty years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.
