~ Blurb ~
The Vârcolac warriors face their biggest challenge when one of the demented Topside Om Rău goes rogue and starts stealing Fey power, driving them all toward an Otherworld apocalypse.

With a single act of unspeakable cruelty, half-demon Pändra Parthen permanently binds herself to Vârcolac warrior Thomal Costache. Stuck together for life, the two enemies must find a way to live with what cannot be undone. As time apart from her ruthless father allows Pändra to uncover her true self, she tries to mend the breach with Thomal. But he is stalled in seething rage, troubled by an inner turmoil even deeper than the abuse he suffered at Pändra’s hands. To free Thomal, Pändra makes a perilous sacrifice…and lands herself in the demon town of Oţărât.

Half-Rău Big Nỵko Brun is the one man who has a slim hope of breaching Oţărât. But Nỵko took himself out of the hero business after failing the people he loves too many times. He even abandoned Faith Teague, the woman who was destined to be his mate. Left to fend for herself while her world crumbles around her, Faith also makes a sacrifice that traps her in the violent hell of Oţărât. Now the fate of both women rests on Nỵko’s enormous shoulders, but he can’t manage a rescue without Thomal’s help…and then only if the proud Vârcolac can somehow find room in his heart for his enemy.

**Content warning: not intended for gentle readers, this book contains profanity, violence, and intense adult situations.

~ My Review 5 Stars ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tracy Tappan continues the “Community Series” with this sensational, a little bit dark third book. Keeping true to her previous books this one continues with the large list of characters and adds more to enrich the storyline.

This book focuses on Pändra’s point of view incorporating her evil step brother, Videon, several other siblings and father, Raymond for most of the storyline. But in the authors intertwining writing style you also see events from Thomal’s viewpoint as well as Nyko and Faith.

The first part of the book half-demon Pändra does the unthinkable to Vârcolac warriors Thomal Costache and his older brother Arc. Honestly because of this act I originally didn’t see how this book could have a win-win situation. The heroine was not likeable and to me definitely a broken villain like her twisted father. Thomal and Arc are so impacted by what she did that one almost dies and the other wishes he had. Thomal’s character flowed really well with the storyline creating a believable reaction and resolution to the traumatic event creating a learning lesson for the reader.

My strongest connection was with massive half – Rau and Dragon warrior Nyko, son of the evil Lorke leader of the Om Rau. Nyko is one of those men that looks are deceiving. Externally he scares the pants off of you but inside is this caring person that no one knows exists. This man is a protector and it shows subtly throughout the story.

Nyko’s unclaimed mate Faith annoyed me to no end because she wouldn’t get over her sports injury and move forward with her life. But wow she showed great personal growth and strength of character when she meets Lorke, Nyko’s evil father.

My only problem with the book was in the very beginning I had to slow down to acclimate and refresh my mind to the characters from the previous two books I read in this series. Of course the techo nerd in me had to make an electric character list so I could use it for reference when I read her future books in this series. But to be perfectly honest this could be a reader error. I am horrible with names in real life.

This series continues to be action packed and fast moving. The introduction of The Shifted World and a new race sets the reader up for the next book, which I am impatiently waiting for and really excited to read. Erig has really gotten my attention and I hope to read more about him in the next book.

I rate this book 5 Stars and recommend it to the person who doesn’t mind some darkness before the light.

I was gifted this ARC by the author for an honest opinion
