“Some guys call, some date, and some guys, they might even get married. But, sweetheart, I ain’t any of those guys...” ~ Zeke Declan
Every girl in Galveston County knows about Zeke Declan’s rules and has agreed to them or is considering them.
Rule #1 Don’t call him. He’ll call you.
Rule #2 He doesn’t date.
Rule #3 No sleepovers.
Rule #4 Absolutely, no virgins.
When a couple friends talk me into going back to their hometown in the Bayou for the summer and challenge me to break “the best damn lay in Galveston County” along with every single one of his ridiculous rules, I’m confident that I can get the job done. I’m no stranger to men. I have five older brothers. I’m a teacher and I’m used to being around rebellious teenagers. However, Zeke Declan is definitely not someone that I could have prepared for. He’s not a testosterone-fueled, immature boy. He’s a confident, arousing, playful, and mind-melting man. But, behind that sexy charming smile, I know he’s hiding a secret. And, in order to break him, I’m going to need to find out what it is...
Of the three Declan brothers Zeke has been a puzzle to me. From the beginning in Jax (Breaking the Declan Brothers book #1) of the series he has held my interest because of his 4 rules for dating. The author continued to hold the readers interest in Slate the second book of the series but showing a little more of his personality.
Now he finally has his book and I am delighted. This book is as intense as her other books in the series dealing with real life situations in a compassionate way. Zeke is much more than he allows others to see, just like his brothers, but his dark secret is so traumatic that I started crying when I read it. It still breaks my heart thinking about it. The author deals with this situation with great empathy allowing the reader to see what an amazing person he grew up to be in spite of this secret.
Lurlene is the perfect foil to Zeke and sets out to make him break all his rules. She knows just how to turn his crank and it's is very amusing watching their interaction throughout the book. This woman sure knows how to deal with men but then again she does have five older brothers.
One of the Lurlene's brothers makes an appearance in the book and I can't but hope and wonder if there will be a spinoff series because he was VERY interesting and there is a lot of good stories that could be written with five hunky men. I am patiently waiting to see.
I give this book 4 STARS for the authors compassionate handling of a an event from childhood and how she wove it into a story of absolution and love.

Kelly’s motto ~ "Bad boys, give 'em a little time and experience, and they will evolve into misbehaving men!" And what hot-blooded woman doesn’t want a naughty, all grown up bad boy?
