DESTINED FOR DOOM—OR DESIRE?

Growing up on the Isle of Moon, Brigitta knew that she was born with the magical powers of the Embraced—even if she did not know how to wield them. But she has finally learned the truth: Brigitta is the lost princess of the kingdom of Tourin. She was sent into hiding as an infant to escape the wrath of her half-brother, the king. And now he knows just where to find her. . .

Rupert is a notorious pirate and sorcerer who can harness the wind with his hands. He’s spent most of his life plotting revenge on the evil king—and Rupert believes that Brigitta could be the key to finally destroying his enemy. But what begins as a kidnapping of the innocent beauty escalates into something deeper, and more passionate, than either captor or captive could have imagined. Rupert soon vows to protect Brigitta against the king—but will they survive long enough to find their happily-ever-after. . .or does fate have something else in store?

Vivid detail, a rich storyline and characters to swoon over. That is what I think of this series it is amazing. The author continues The Embraced series with another hit. This series is full of women who become stronger as the book progresses but each has just enough weaknesses to make them believable for their era.

In this book Brigitta is the main female character and her greatest strength is protecting others. The reader will feel compassion for decisions she makes and how she finds her strength to follow through with her convictions. She has a certain tentativeness that she tries to hide in her bravery that is enchanting.

Let's not forget the tortured handsome sexy alpha man to make all woman swoon. Rupert is just yummy. It's not just his looks but the way his brain thinks is attractive and noteworthy. I felt his character was enduring and how he fought to help others was portrayed with finesse. His struggle to be a good person yet get his revenge is portrayed so the reader can feel all his struggles and angst throughout the book.

Author Kerrelyn Spark's is a remarkable storyweaver that keeps me coming back to see what will happen next. I am looking forward to her next book to this series.

I give this 5 STARS for satisfying all parts of my mind.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Kerrelyn Sparks apparently has issues with reality. After writing more than a dozen books about vampires, she has now completely gone off the deep end and wound up on another planet. But how thrilling that she can share this magical new world with her readers! Although she is best known (so far) for the Love at Stake series, which has hit as high as number 5 on the New York Times list and 22 on the USA Today list, she hopes her readers will love The Embraced as much as they did her merry band of vamps and shifters.
