When Claire found out a devastating secret about her family, the famous Woodley clan, she ran straight into the arms of a criminal and disappeared for years. But now she’s desperate to escape his clutches and get back what he’s stolen from her: her child. She turns to longtime family horse master Warrick Blackwood, knowing his secrets can get her close to her target.

War doesn’t want to return to the dangerous life he left behind, even to help Claire, but he has no choice. Not only does she know the truth about his past, but he’s never been able to resist her. Her frantic attempt to save her daughter will bring them close, revealing both War’s dominant nature and his heart, but it may also destroy any hope at the future both secretly long for.

Memorable Quote of the book
"You spend your life in control,” he said. “Fighting to have and be and do what you want. This is to offer you a moment to release that fight. To give over to someone who will anticipate your needs, who will steer you to the heights you so richly deserve. You don’t owe me anything in return, just your release, your tremors of pleasure, your sighs as you finally find ecstasy."

Priceless is the word to describe this book. The author describes to great detail Claire and War's thoughts, feelings and desires drawing the reader into their secrets and struggles as if they were them. Her eye to detailed descriptions of their actions and surroundings continues to draw the readers in so intensely that you will not want to put the book down. Added to all of this is the steamy, steamy, hot love making between these two that will curl your toes.

Claire from the start was someone I could relate to even if I didn't agree with all her actions. As you progress further into the story you have an understanding of why she acted as she had all those years ago and if you didn't like her before you will like her by the end.

War, I fell in love with him on the first few pages. He is one of those men you trust and want in your life. His strength of character and how the author shows his softer side take away from the impact of his past when you read it.

Though this book can be read as a standalone I had a little disconnect when references were made to the couples from the first three books but it had nothing to do with the story as much as I distracted myself and kept wishing I had read those books to see more of the storyline from the past.

After searching through my eBooks I discovered I already owned one of the books and it got missed going onto my reading list. Now I am going to head over to get the other books and patiently wait for the next book.

I give this 5 stars for the mystery around these two and how it was resolved.
